I grew up in Zimbabwe. After studying Environmental Sciences, Geography and English in Durban, South Africa, I worked on a tourism project in Mozambique for a year. I then came to Zambia, where my first placement was with the Kasanka Trust. Here I began to establish my current reputation as a leading bird-guide in the country, drawing on my prior experience of birding in Eastern South Africa, Central Mozambique and throughout Zimbabwe. My other duties included Wildlife management and the training of Zambian guides. I was given the position of Honorary Wildlife Police Officer by the Zambian Government, and tasked with running anti-poaching operations in Kasanka. After three years I left and guided for a lodge in Kafue National Park until, in 2010, I created Lapwing Safaris, a birding and mobile safari company. My principle business is birding tours throughout Zambia, but I also continue to train local bird-guides country-wide. My broad-ranging interest in all fauna and flora makes for very lively and informative outings, as well as impressive lists of bird sightings. I particularly enjoy working with the smaller creatures like butterflies and reptiles, as well as small mammals. I keep notes on all the flora and fauna I see on trips, and am happy to share all this knowledge with my clients.
I offer: 1 Day and ½ Day trips in the Lusaka area Mobile birding tours using camping or lodge accommodation, of up to 3 weeks.
